What is the VCU Writing Center Workshop Portal?
Welcome! Here you'll find information about our synchronous workshops, how to add our workshops to your Google Calendar, and our asynchronous workshop videos: an interactive learning tool brought to you by the VCU Writing Center.
The VCU Writing Center offers 2-3 workshops via Zoom each week. Workshop topics range from Writing a Strong Introduction, Abstract, or Proposal Narrative to Artist Statements. This portal includes steps to locate our synchronous workshop dates, times, and descriptions, as well as a guide to adding workshop sessions to your personal Google Calendar.
Additionally, this portal is home to our asynchronous workshop videos series. This is a learning tool designed with interactive elements. When watching and participating with our asynchronous workshops, you'll still be engaging at a similar level to students who attend our live sessions!
A brief introduction to the VCU Writing Center
The Writing Center provides peer-based consultation services to students writing in all disciplines, at all stages of the writing process. We offer one-on-one consultations, group workshops, and digital resources for the entire student body. Our goal is to help you become more confident, capable writers by asking you big-picture questions about your personal process and facilitating reflective discussions. In doing so, we hope to empower you with effective strategies for approaching your writing in any context, whether academic, professional, creative, or personal. We’re here to be your readers and listeners throughout every stage of your creation process.
